History:
A Brand Based In The Textile Rich Region Of Hyogo, Japan, Tamaki Niime Pieces Are Woven On Large Industrial Looms In The Traditional Style Of Japanese Weaving Called ‘Banshu-Ori’. This Method Of Weaving Was Revived By Tamaki Niime Back In 2006 After It Was Effectively Made Extinct In The Mid-80’S After Being The Traditional Method Of Weaving Kimonos Since The 1700S. Niime Brought Back “Banshu-Ori” With Her Line Of Shawls, And Later, A Full Line Of Clothing That Includes Dresses, Loose Tops And Voluminous Pants. In An Effort To Become Ever More Thoughtful About Her Textiles, Tamaki Niime Sought To Grow Her Own Materials, Including The Organic Cotton For Her Scarves And Has A Working Cotton Field Next To Her Looms. Today Her Entire Process Of Making Each Niime Shawls – From The Growing Of Cotton, To The In-House Dying Of The Thread, To The Meticulous Weaving – Is All Maintained In 1 Place For Exceptional Quality.
